ZumMoghulhof
Commission-free booking system instead of The Fork/Quandoo fees

ZumMoghulhof is an authentic Indian restaurant in the centre of Vienna. What triggered this project wasn't design but cost: The Fork and Quandoo take a steep commission on every booking they pass on, and the guest's details stay with the platform. We built a custom booking module the staff run from a tablet. This is the reference our commission-free booking promise rests on.
The problems we solved
Dependence on booking platforms
Commission left the business on every table booked, and the restaurant had no access to its own guest data. Their own module broke that dependence.
Staff have to run it, not an office worker
Bookings need to be seen and changed during service, on a tablet or a phone. The interface was built for that, not for a desktop.
Atmosphere that survives a screen
Choosing a restaurant is half emotional. The site carries the restaurant's own visual world rather than a generic hospitality template.
The restaurant wanted independence from third-party booking platforms (The Fork, Quandoo) and their high commissions.
- A custom, responsive site that captures the restaurant's atmosphere
- A bespoke booking module the staff manage from a tablet
- A guest-list feature for marketing
- SEO for the Viennese market
- Independent, commission-free direct booking
- A brand-building tool for their own guests
- The foundation for a digital guest relationship
The restaurant now takes bookings directly, commission-free, and can use its guest list for marketing, the real payoff of owning the system. They didn't have to leave the platforms, but every booking that comes directly instead stays with the restaurant in full. The site doubles as a brand-building tool and the foundation of their digital guest relationship.
The website performs really well. We managed to reduce our dependence on booking platforms like The Fork and Quandoo, which charge high fees.
